Abstract:The uniform damping control of low-frequency oscillation (LFO) is presented in this paper. Firstly, the damping characteristic of power systems and realization condition of uniform damping control are analyzed. Following the idea of making damping uniform, the region poles assignment method is utilized to design multi-machine additional excitation controllers to obtain the uniform damping of all modes. Since this method assigns poles in vertical stripy region at the same time, it could avoid the excessive damping decreasing of other modes caused by controllers, and realize the coordination of multiple controllers. At last, simulations of IEEE 4-machine 11-node and New England 10-machine system using this method are carried out. The simulation results are compared with the simulation of using accurate poles assignment method, which proves the validity and robust of uniform damping control. The uniform damping control could be a new consideration of the restraining of LFO in power systems.
