Abstract:Single side linear induction (SLIM) exhibits good direct drive ability. But its operation efficiency is poor due to the large air gap and the end effect. An online search algorithm of efficiency optimization is proposed in the paper, which can improve the efficiency of SLIM under light load condition and reduce the power loss. Golden section search method is applied to search the optimized operation point globally, thus to decide the optimized ratio between the primary magnetization and the thrust current components. The convergence of the algorithm is rapid and it is independence of the model parameters and does not need to reinitiate the search process when the load is changed. The experimental results validate the correctness of the proposed algorithm and the effects of efficiency optimization.
