Abstract:In order to improve the dynamic response and robustness of the current loop of the pulse width modulation(PWM) rectifier, this paper proposes an improved model predictive control (MPC) method and applies it to the current loop of the PWM rectifier. The improved MPC method, based on the first order difference equations of the PWM rectifier and the time delay of the micro processor, predicts the current for next two sample instants. Consequently, it avoids the considerable computation and inconvenient realization of traditional MPC but reserves the merits of the optimal control and feedback correction. The experimental results show the proposed MPC method can significantly improve the dynamic response and robustness of the PWM rectifier.
