Abstract:A simplified space vector pulse width modulation algorithm based on two-level modulation for multi-level inverter is proposed. The algorithm determines the small hexagonal region which the reference vector belongs to according to the amplitude and phase angle of the reference vector. Firstly the reference vector is decomposed into a multi-level basic vector and a two level reference vector, then the two level reference vector is synthesized and the two level optimized switching sequences are obtained by using the traditional two-level seven segments modulation method. Finally the multi-level optimized switching sequences are obtained by adding the multi-level basic vector to the optimized two level switching sequences. The complexity of calculating the basic vector dwelling time and generating the optimized switching sequences has nothing to do with the specific level of the inverter. The correctness and feasibility numbers of the proposed algorithm are verified by the simulation and experimental results of a diode clamped three level inverter.
