The Power Decouping Control of Three Phase to Single Phase Matrix Converter

Abstract:This paper is about the research of power decoupling, closed-loop control methods of three-phase to single-phase Matrix Converter (3-1 MC) and brings out a novel 3-1 MC topology, with a small power decoup-ling unit(PDU). The 3-1 MC-PDU has improved this kind of converter as it overcomes the traditional 3-1 MC’s defects, such as current distortion, high harmonic content and so on,which due to the direct-coupled of input and output power without dc link. According to this scheme, a novel closed-loop control strategy based on virtual DC signal’s feedback is proposed. The strategy takes the input current as inner loop and the virtual DC signal as the outer loop. Consequently, not only the power factor correction(PFC) is achieved, but also the stability of MC’s control system is improved. Finally, an example of outputting an intermediate frequency of 115V/400Hz used in the airport is conducted, and the results of particular analysis, tests, stimulation and experiments indicate that the method of power deoupling and the control strategy is feasible.
