Abstract:For an asymmetric half-bridge power converter in switched reluctance motor driver, three operation modes were introduced under the voltage PWM control, and the current waveforms of power devices were given. Based on the maximum current point and the freewheeling current start time point, the current waveform of conducting transistor was simplified by piecewise linearization method. Thus,the power loss calculation formula for conducting transistor was derived with ideal linear phase inductance model. The current waveform of chopping transistor was also simplified after compression process, and then the power loss calculation formula for chopping transistor and power converter were obtained. The calculated results were in good agreement with the experimental results, which verifies the validity and practicability of the calculation method.
