Abstract:Multi-pulse rectifier technique is the main method to solve the harmonic pollution of the high power rectifier system. Multi-pulse rectifier based on harmonic suppression technique at DC side can eliminate input current harmonic more effectively. In the paper, a 12-pulse rectifier system is proposed with a single-phase PWM rectifier at DC side. The analysis results showed that input current harmonic can be suppressed effectively when the PWM rectifier operated under unity power factor condition. The relationship is also analyzed between THD of input current and load parameters for the LR type and LRC type loads which were commonly used in high power system. The results indicate the system has good harmonic suppression for both types of load. A 6.4kW experimental system has been designed. Experimental results show the THD is closed to 1% and verify the system has good load adaptability and application prospect in high power rectifiers.
