Abstract:The difference of phase flux linkage in two-phase excitation mode and in single-phase excitation mode is characterized by mutual inductance for switched reluctance motor. The calculation model for mutual inductance is developed. The self and mutual inductance characteristics are detected by experiment, and the variation of mutual inductance with respect to rotor position and phase current is analyzed. The effect of mutual inductance on torque output is theoretically analyzed and validated by experiment. The phase voltage equation as well as the modeling method of output torque is derived considering mutual inductance, based on which, the modeling and the simulation of the speed control system are carried out. The research shows that electromagnetic asymmetric phases exist in even number phase switched reluctance motor, and the negative mutual inductance in long-flux-path phases makes the output torque lower. The torque waveform is irregular, and the torque ripple is increased. The research contents in this paper could provide theoretical basis for accurate modeling and high performance control of switched reluctance motor.
