| An Adjustable Reactor Realized by Multi-Winding Transformer Based on the Double Port Network Control |

Abstract The existing structures of adjustable reactor can not be regulated rapidly and continuously or generate serious harmonics. A novel adjustable reactor structure is proposed in this paper. Using voltage source PWM inverter as the secondary load of linear transformer, the equivalent impedance of transformer's primary winding can be regulated arbitrarily by controlling the inverter's output current. Large capacity variable reactor can be realized by adopting the structure of transformer with multiple secondary windings. The control system of multi-winding and multi-module is simple and stable based on the double port network. The polygon type equivalent circuit model of multi-winding transformer is presented by solving the branch-current equation and the inductance matrix of the multi-winding transformer. The mathematical model of adjustable reactance implemented by multi-winding transformer is established in Matlab. The simulation and experimental results are given to verify the simple control, continuous-tuning, fast response and few harmonics of the novel adjustable reactance.
