Abstract The fractional PIλDμ controller is introduced into the UPQC DC voltage control. With the principle and the advantage of the fractional PIλDμ controller, the PIλDμ controller and the UPQC are simulated separately. By using the software Matlab and EMTDC/PSCAD. The PIλDμ control of the DC voltage is actualized through the interface of the Matlab and EMTDC/PSCAD software. Simulation results show that the control of the PIλDμ controller has faster control response and more accurate control result than the traditional PI control. It enlarges the field of system optimization, and it provides the higher optimized space to the accurate control. The fractional PIλDμ controller can describe the control system more correctly. It expands the optimization field so the wider precise control space is given to the control system.
