Abstract In this paper, by introducing the fictitious branch and fictitious node, the fictitious ports to simulate the parameter unbalance and fault are established. By taking fictitious ports as boundary, the faulted parameter unbalance power system is separated into symmetrical network and unsymmetrical network to simulate parameter unbalance and fault. Based on the basic theory of liner circuit, the model for parameter unbalance power system fault calculation is built, and the fictitious port method for parameter unbalance power system fault calculation in sequence domain is presented. The method has the following characteristics: By parameter unbalance simulation, the parameter unbalance power system is transformed to symmetrical network, so the characteristic that symmetrical component can be uncoupled is employed. The parameter unbalance and fault simulation method is united. The simulation network is simple and easy to be implemented using computer. The paramter calculation of fictitious port for simulation the parameter unbalance and fault is same and can be deduced from the balance node paramter. The paramter calculation is efficient. In the end an unsymmetrical power system with a short to earth fault is analyzed as an example.
