Abstract Current assignment and decoupling-control are both presented in order to implement field-weakening control for induction motors. To maximize torque, a current assignment method independence from motor parameters is proposed in accordance with relationships amongst current, voltage and torque in full frequency range. For overcoming the influence of coupled-voltage on current control in field-weakening region, a current vector controller is designed without information of motor parameters. Consequently, high performance current dynamic decoupling-control is carried out. Experimental results demonstrate that both current control performance and output torque are improved compared with conventional method.
