Status and Prospect of Fault Diagnosis and Tolerant Control Methods for Switched Reluctance Motor Drive System |

Abstract Switched reluctance motor (SRM)is giventhe advantages of high reliability, low manufacturing cost, fast response speed, simple structure, and so on. However, due to complicated external factors likeoverheating, humidity, overvoltage and complex operating conditions including frequent start/stop, variablespeed/load, the failures of SRM, power converters, or sensors may be caused. And the failureswill exacerbatethe problems such as overcurrent, torque rippleand noise, and affectthe normal operation of the switched reluctance motor drive system (SRD). Therefore, it is necessary to carry out reliability research for SRD. On basis of the domestic and foreign literatures on SRD reliability research, the principles, scope of application, merits and defeats of current fault diagnosis and tolerant control methods of SRD are analyzed comprehensively and presented separately from the three aspects of power converter, SRM, and sensor in this paper. Finally, the development trend of SRD fault diagnosis and tolerant control methods is predicted.
