Abstract During the usage of high-speed optical-electronic theodolite, the bandwidth and the high speed data transmission are the emphases and the difficulty all the time. With the multi-sensor technology in the application of electro-optical theodolite, the problem of how to transmit so much data timely is presented. Using optical fiber communication technology, the fiber-optic rotary connector system for data communications is designed. The mechanical conductive ring is replaced by the fiber conductive ring. Finally the experimental result shows that the data rate can reach up to 3.125Gbit/s and the delay time less than 100ns, data error rate less than 10-12. These results satisfy the practical need and the whole system anti-jamming ability is also improved.
