Abstract  Wide-area damping controller can effectively damp inter-area low-frequency oscillation. The resulting time delay has become an important factor affecting controller performance. Therefore, time delay and wind-up will affect the damping controller effect. The linearized model of power systems is established taking the unavoidable transmission time delay of the wide-area measurement signals and wind-up into consideration. A new type of anti-windup wide-area time-delay damping controller is designed based on parametric Lyapunov method. The test on the New England system confirmed the control effect of the controller proposed in this paper.
Key wordsSmall signal stability      communication time delay      actuator wind-up      wide-area damping controller (WADC)      Lyapunov low gain output feedback theory      output feedback control
