Abstract  There is plenty of elliptical magnetic flux density (B) in the yoke and tooth roots of the induction motor stator, the rotational losses are greater than alternating ones, and therefore, the accurate calculation of rotation loss is the premise and foundation of the optimum design of the motor. Based on the 2D rotational magnetic properties measurement system, RPT, Brockhaus in Germany, the rotational loss in the non-oriented electrical steel sheet was measured and analyzed in this paper. By studying the traditional Bertotti’s model and Steinmetz equation, this paper put forward the improved models of core loss estimation for elliptic B locus. In order to verify the validity of the proposed model, a B-H vector sensor was set up to test the local losses in an induction motor stator core.
