Open Circuit Fault Diagnosis of T-Type Inverter |

Abstract In this paper, the variations of load current and bus capacitor voltage in the case of open circuit fault of T-type inverter are analyzed. Then the fault characteristics of different open circuit switches are summarized. A fault diagnosis strategy based on load current and bus capacitor voltage variation law is proposed. Firstly, the fault of the inverter is judged by detecting bus capacitor voltage. The modulation ratio is limited to 0.25 after the fault is then detected. Finally, the precise location of the fault switch is realized by judging the variation law of load current and bus capacitor voltage in different sectors. The proposed fault diagnosis strategy does not need additional sensors, and it is easy to implement in engineering. Simulation and experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed fault diagnosis strategy.
