Abstract

Cable, as electromagnetic coupling receptor, is one ofthe main sources ofelectromagnetic interference (EMI). With the increasingly complex electromagnetic environment, the radiatedimmunity test of the cable has been one of the important subjects in electromagnetic compatibility area. However, the cost of traditional test method is high. In this paper, an equivalence of two test methods on the basis of model of fields coupling to transmission lines (FCL) and model of transmission lines excited at two-port (ETP) respectively is proposed. According to the typical principle of multi-conductor transmission lines (MTLs), the substituted test method for that based on FCL is implemented by resorting to a generator line laid parallel and in proximity of the cable under test and fed at the terminations by two voltage sources, whose amplitude and phase shift is suitably controlled. Availability of the proposed scheme is preliminary investigated by simulation and subsequently verified by measurement through setting up fields coupling to multi-conductor transmission lines (FCL) test platform in anechoic chamber and transmission lines excited at twoport test platform. Eventually, the results suggest that these two models consist well in certain frequency range, which provides a new approach for radiated immunity test of cable has a potential applicationprospect.
