Abstract In order to study the influence of amorphous alloy stator core on the temperature distribution of permanent magnet motor,an experiment for measuring the thermal conductivity of stacked amorphous alloy iron core in axial direction was conducted based on infinite plate method,and two groups of amorphous alloy samples with different stacking factors were measured.Then the losses of two 1.6 kW permanent magnet motors with the same dimensions but different stator core materials were calculated by electromagnetic field software.One of the stator cores is made of amorphous alloy,and the other is made of conventional silicon steel.Based on the losses results,the 3D temperature field was calculated,and the temperature distributions of amorphous alloy motor and silicon steel motor were compared.Finally,the temperature rise test of the two motors was conducted,and the test data were compared with the calculated results,which validated the effectiveness of the analysis and calculation.
