Abstract  By applying the principle of inverse current commutation with semiconductor devices (ICCOS) in a slow transfer of energy through capacitive hybrid (STRETCH) meat grinder circuit, a novel circuit topology of inductive pulsed-power supplies can not only raise the amplitude of opening current, but also can reduce the cost for STRETCH meat grinder obviously. In order to construct high energy inductive pulsed-power supplies with the best performance, the parameter analysis and optimization design are necessary for its ICCOS countercurrent circuit. Combined with the initial experiment result, this paper put forward design constraints of the countercurrent circuit based on the analysis of the principle of STRETCH meat grinder with ICCOS. It shows that there is a group of optimal values for countercurrent capacitor and its precharge voltage with the minimum of countercurrent energy. Simulation analysis showed that the minimum of countercurrent energy is directly related to the corresponding opening current and get the influence of the primary dc power supply, but has nothing to do with the inductor energy.
