Abstract For a dual-active-bridge(DAB) dc-dc converter with the traditional single-phase-shift (SPS) control, there are power circulating flow and larger current stress when the voltage conversion ratio is not equal to one. In order to eliminate the power circulating flow and reduce the current stress, dual-phase-shift(DPS) control is proposed and gained more attractive. All possible modes of DPS control is first analyzed in this paper, and the operating principle of DPS control is then analyzed. The transmission power and current stress of DAB dc-dc converter with both SPS and DPS control were analyzed and derived respectively. On this basis, the constraint condition to minimize the current stress, as well as optimal current control and implement scheme with all modes of DPS control, are analyzed and derived later, therefore minimal current stress and higher efficiency are ensured in a DAB dc-dc converter. The experimental results verify the correctness and excellent performance of the proposed optimal current control strategy.
