Abstract SHEPWM and OPTPWM by optimizing switching time sequence, have low harmonic contents of output waveform, high efficiency, full utilization of DC side voltage. In this paper, the modulation strategy in the single-phase voltage source PWM rectifier using SHEPWM or OPTPWM is proposed and compared with SPWM modulation. The principle and control strategy of single-phase rectifier with SHEPWM/OPTPWM modulation strategy are studied. Simulation analysis and experimental verification through 50kV·A single-phase rectifier are given. The simulation and experiment results show that the grid input current total harmonic distortion, rectifier transformer winding harmonic loss and iron loss with SHEPWM or OPTPWM modulation strategy are lower than the SPWM modulation strategy.
