Study of Attractive Force Characteristics Based on Magnetic Distributed Parameter Circuit Model of Permanent Magnet Contactors |

Abstract Since the calculation accuracy of using permanent-magnet (PM) lumped parameter magnetic circuit model to calculate the attractive force characteristics of PM contactor is low, the PM distributed parameter contactor equivalent magnetic circuit model is proposed. In this model, according to the distribution of magnetic flux density in PM, PM is partitioned along and perpendicular to the direction of magnetization based on the minimum entirety relative error. The curve clusters of static attractive force characteristics could be obtained through the calculated values of static attractive force characteristics of the contactor by calculating the equivalent magnetic circuit of the PM contactor.In the combination with the curve clusters of flux linkage of static coil, dynamic differential equations of PM contactor can be solved to obtain the static attractive force characteristics. Comparing calculated value with measured value of attractive force, good consistency can be seen and relative errors of static and dynamic attractive force are within 8% and 10% respectively.This result shows the correctness and the effectiveness of the method of using the PM distributed parameter contactor equivalent magnetic circuit model to solve attractive force characteristics, and that such research method is an effective way when designing and optimized analyzing PM contactors.
