| Torque-Ripple Minimization for SRMs with Segmental Rotors and Fully-Picthed Windings based on TSF by Current Compensation Strategy |

Abstract Comparing with conventional switched reluctance motor(SRM), SRMs with segmental rotors and fully-pitched winding have shown an increase in torque per unit copper loss of the same outside diameter and core length, and a decrease in windage losses and iron losses at high speeds greatly. However, the torque ripple is larger than that of conventional SRM. In order to suppress the torque ripple at low speed, the torque sharing function(TSF) method is utilized. The smooth torque is obtained through controlling the phase torque component produced by phase current. While for high speed operation, the phase current can not track the current reference when phase current increases rapidly and the phase current is uncontrollable because the phase is shut up. Thus to solve problem in this paper, the method of compensating phase torque by increasing or decreasing other phase’s current is also proposed. Finally The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified by system simulations and experimental tests.
