Abstract This paper used coupled mode theory and theory of mutual induction to model the resonant wireless power transmission system. It introduces the variation of energy in the process of transmission and transmission mechanism of the resonant wireless power transmission system. By comparing the parameters of efficiency, power, energy variation according to the two mathematical models and use MATLAB simulating, we find that the two kinds of models are identical in calculation of steady-state parameters such as transmission efficiency, power, but only when the system with high-Q and low mutual coupling factor is coupled in the near-field, the transient response of the system based on the two models are identical.
