| Current Control Strategy of Electronic Pole-Changing for Multiphase Induction Motors |

Abstract In order to reduce torque and speed fluctuations during electronic pole-changing transition of a multiphase induction machine, a current control strategy based on sliding mode control (SMC) is adopted. In this paper, the traditional PI and sliding mode current control strategies are compared. The sliding mode current controller displaces traditional PI controller to control d-axis and q-axis currents by vector control, which is designed to solve the lag problem of tracking the input ramp signal. The proposed strategy is verified by an experiment of a 5-phase induction machine (IM). The experimental results show that the proposed strategy can reduce torque ripple and speed fluctuations during the transition of pole-changing.
