Abstract In a contactless power transfer system, a constant current on primary winding determines the stability and power transfer capability of the entire system, and a constant voltage on pickup is absolutely necessary in practical applications. In this article, double-LCL compensation is presented which accomplished both constant current and constant voltage. The circuit of contactless power transfer system based on double-LCL compensation is given. The paper has a detail discussion of primary side and secondary side operating principle and its requirements. At the same time, the parameter of each component is inferred. Finally, its feasibility is verified by means of simulation and prototype. The solution presented in this article reduces IPT complexity and increases application availability.
