Abstract For the purpose of managing power quality of traction power supply system caused by electric locomotives, a railway power static conditioner is discussed in the paper. In order to improve the treatment effect and control performance of power regulator, a novel double-loop control block diagram is constructed. Taking into account the importance of current tracking, a recursive integral based double-hysteresis control method is proposed, which combines the characteristics of two control methods and effectively improves response speed and control accuracy. In order to maintain DC-link voltage to ensure normal operation of regulator, a composite pseudo-PI control method is proposed based on energy balance principle, which can achieve a smooth and stable control for DC-link voltage. Finally, simulation and experimental results confirm the correctness of proposed control method, and it can improve power quality of traction system effectively.
