Abstract Considering the alternator#x02019;s actual installation structure and applying the basic theory of rotational compliance and statistical energy analysis, the rotational compliance model of the alternator installation structure was established. The noise radiation energy spreading and coupling in the components of the alternator was deduced. Thus,it was made clear about the influence mechanism of the alternator#x02019;s installation structure to its electromagnetic noise radiation. And based on the rotational compliance model, the existing alternator#x02019;s installation structure was optimization configured. Noise performance tests were done of the alternators both with conventional installation structure and optimization configuration. The results show that the alternator#x02019;s noise performance has obviously improved after installation structure optimal allocation. This paper ascertains the influence mechanism of installation structure to the alternator#x02019;s electromagnetic noise radiation, and the basic theory of low noise alternator is established for optimal allocation installation structure.
