Abstract Considering the cumbersome process, complex describing and redundant searching of the traditional reliability evaluation methods, a novel reliability evaluation method of complex distribution networks based on network partitioning and accessibility analysis is proposed, which can transfer reliability evaluation process into accessibility analysis between sources and areas. The distribution network partitioning is achieved by using accessibility matrix and adjacent matrix. The construction method of accessibility matrix according different periods after failure is put forwards, and the way to determine the failure result types of loads is given. The combination of network partitioning and accessibility analysis effectively reduces complexity of reliability evaluation of distribution network. The simulation results show that the proposed method is correct and effective.
