Abstract  In this paper, a new high-frequency multilevel inverter with multi-inputs is proposed, which is composed of interleaved Buck-Boost full-bridge units. Through straightforward pulse width modulation (PWM), a staircase output with more voltage levels can be realized, whose frequency is the same as the switching frequency, making the proposed topology suitable for the high-frequency power distribution system. Additionally, the characteristic of multi-inputs makes the proposed inverter appropriate for renewable power generation, such as wind and solar energy. The modulation and operational principles of the proposed inverter are firstly introduced. Then, both time-domain analysis and Fourier analysis are presented for the studies of the input ripple and output harmonic. An experimental prototype is lastly implemented, whose results are compared with the simulation ones. The consistency of simulation and experiment confirms the feasibility of the proposed inverter.
