Abstract:The common upper switch power converter for even phase switched reluctance motor can effectively reduce the number of power switch devices and the cost of system. It also inherits the advantages of the asymmetrical bridge converter, such as phase independence and fast excitation. However, the existence of common upper switch makes it difficult for each phase to demagnetization. In this paper, based on the common upper switch power converter of four phase 8/6 switched reluctance motor, the angle control optimal strategy of safe demagnetization for current chop control and angle position control is studied. The theory derives the critical commutation width while current chop control and angle position control, in order to operate the system efficiently and reliably in a wide speed range. Simulation and experiment results confirm the validity of the control strategy.
