Abstract:In order to explore effective control scheme of novel transverse-flux permanent magnet motors applied to direct-drive electric vehicles, comprehensive experimental research is done in this paper. As the routine practice, PMSM mode is investigated firstly. To be specific, both low power factor and low efficiency are found existing in U/f =C control. Then the V-shaped curve is tested to reveal the regularity of voltage and current. On this basis, the control strategy of Id =0 improves efficiency, while power factor decreases with load torque increasing. Therefore, BLDCM mode equivalent to Id =0 is further discussed. While the efficiency and load capacity are still unsatisfactory in conventional commutation, the performance is markedly improved with phase advance commutation adopted. Finally, the relation curve between optimal phase advance angle and load torque is tested, laying the foundation for industrial application.
