Abstract:In order to improve the input currents and power factor, a novel passive correction method in which an auxiliary network is added to the AC side of the conventional three-phase rectifier with DC-side C filter, is proposed in this paper. According to the distinct auxiliary network, eight low harmonic input rectifier topologies are derived. Three rectifier topologies of better comprehensive performance are deeply analyzed. From the comparative results of the three rectifiers in operation principle, auxiliary network design and characteristic discussion, some important conclusions are drawn. Experimental results from the prototypes with different specifications are shown to confirm the validity of the analysis and the feasibility of proposed method.
