DC Voltage Stability of Directly-Driven Wind Turbine With PM Synchronous Generator During the Asymmetrical Faults |

Abstract This paper analyzes fluctuation mechanism on DC voltage of directly-driven wind turbine with permanent magnet synchronous generator under asymmetrical faults and studies stability control strategy in order to improve the capability of faults when asymmetry faults took place. Based on the method of symmetrical components for voltage and current, a vector-oriented control strategy which oriented on positive and negative voltage respectively is proposed to elimilate the fluctuation in power tranmission and to stabilize the DC voltage under asymmetrical faults, and then a energy consumption crowbar is used to consump the excrescent active power for the wind turbine un-off-line operation on grid faults.The simulation results show that the strategy is effective on inhibiting the DC voltage fluctuation, and the energy consumption crowbar could prohibit the over-voltage successfully in the asymmetrical faults. The experimental results prove the validity of the control strategy.
