Abstract  For the coupling problem of electromagnetic force between two degrees of freedom in a PM biased radial magnetic bearing with four poles, the reason of coupling produced is studied and the mathematical model of electromagnetic force coupling is established. Feedforward decoupling control strategy and feedforward compensator decoupling algorithm for the PM biased radial magnetic bearing is presented. Through comparing and analyzing the electromagnetic force and control current before and after decoupling control shows that feedforward compensation decoupling algorithm proposed is feasible. Feedforward decoupling control can effectively reduce electromagnetic force coupling, when the rotor position is off-center. The position control accuracy of rotor can be improved.
