Abstract At present, auxiliary switches are added to inverter topology to realize soft-switching. But this leads the complexity of detection and control system. A novel passive lossless soft-switching dual Buck full bridge inverter is presented in this paper. On the basis of the dual Buck full bridge inverter, a passive lossless snubber is added to the circuit. The characteristics of high efficiency and reliability of dual Buck full bridge inverter are remained in the proposed inverter. Based on the dual Buck full bridge inverter whose current flowed in one direction, the passive lossless snubber realizes soft switching by its resonance. When the switch is turned off, the loss of the main switch is reduced. And the energy in passive lossless snubber could transfer to load completely. A comparison between seven topologies is performed, and analysis shows that passive lossless soft-switching dual Buck full bridge inverter has high reliability. Experiment verifies those analyses and indicates that it can reduce switching loss of dual buck full bridge inverter and improve efficiency remarkably.
