| Investigation of a Novel Topology for Inductively Coupled Charging System in Electric Vehicles |

Abstract Electric vehicles has been attracting considerable interest recent years, requiring a safe and convenient charging system. Inductively coupled power transfer(ICPT) is capable of meeting these needs. However, both of primary coil and second coil can not align adequately and load change widely, leading to the change of power and voltage stress or current stress for different topology, which is not cost effective. This paper analysis the structure of four basic compensation topology, drawing a conclusion that series compensation topology require large voltage stress for series capacitance and parallel compensation topology require large current stress for parallel capacitance. At the same time, power transfer capability decrease for PP and PS, but for SS and SP, applied power increase. This paper proposed a novel topology, decreasing the voltage and current stress and keeping the power transfer capability, which is safe for source. At last, a simulation model is built to verify the feasibility of this novel topology.
