Abstract Power amplifier is an integral part of non-radiative magnetic resonance strongly coupled wireless power transfer systems, and its efficiency plays an essential role in the entire wireless power transmission efficiency. This paper designs a high efficiency class-E power amplifier. Also, the corresponding power supply circuit and a signal generating circuit, constituting to an entire front end power amplifier system, are developed. The circuit performance has been simulated by ADS and a prototype has been constructed. The experimental results show that the developed amplifier is a stable and high efficiency one. Therefore, it will improve the efficiency of the whole wireless power transfer.
