Abstract Induction heating technology is used in the edge of intermediate billets to compensate the temperature drop of intermediate billets during the hot rolling cooling, thereby improving the quality of the rolling and the yield. In this paper, a C-type hot rolled strip edge heating model is developed to calculate the eddy current and temperature fields. The factors that influence the eddy current and temperature fields in steel billets are also analyzed.
