Abstract Promoting storage efficiency is an important prerequisite for compressed air energy storage (CAES) to be applied to renewable energy generation system. Comprehensive considering influence of the leakage and friction, the paper establishes chamber air pressure dynamic equation and the main shaft motion equation based on the change of chamber volumes and quality. Then, the dynamic model including the storage vessel is provided and then optimized by the identification of Inertia moment and synthetic coefficient based on the genetic algorithm. Scroll compressor could be efficient even under the various working conditions by the performance comparison between the simulation and experimental results. Multi-speed experiments confirm the effectiveness of compressor model, and point out that scroll compressor possesses the optimal speed that corresponds to the maximum whole efficiency, but for the constant speed the whole efficiency will decrease with the increase of the discharge pressure. which lays the theoretical and practical foundation for efficiency optimization of scroll compressor.
