Abstract:The torque performance of the switched reluctance motor(SRM) used in electric vehicles is very important for improving the dynamic and comfort performance of the vehicle. The double-phase-excitation mode of the SRM is more effective to reduce the torque ripple and increase the output torque than the one-phase-excitation mode. But the phase torque output of the motor is asymmetrical when the double-phase-excitation mode with the traditional winding way works, which can directly increase the SRM torque ripple. So, a novel symmetrical double-phase-excitation mode for the SRM is proposed in this paper in order to reduce the torque ripple and increase the output torque. Then the finite element(FE) model is established based on the novel excitation mode in the Ansys environment and the torque characteristic is obtained and compared with the traditional one- phase-excitation mode. Finally, an experiment for the torque performance is designed based on the proposed novel mode. And the experimental results show that the proposed SRM novel excitation mode is effective.
