Position Sensorless Control Based on Coordinate Transformation for Doubly Salient Motor Drives

Abstract:The application of doubly salient motor(DSM) drives is limited by the use of the rotor position sensor, a sensorless control method is proposed in this paper. By detecting three-phase terminal voltage, the fundamental wave component of the terminal voltage is obtained by the high-order low-pass filter, the phase lag angle of the fundamental wave caused by the filter is compensated by the digital processing chip. The rotor position signal is obtained by zero-crossing comparator circuit. The key technology is the coordinate transformation of the two coordinates in order to achieve the phase compensation, and calculate compensation angle accurately. Detailed analysis of DSM’s terminal voltage and design of high-order active low-pass filter are involved in this paper, at different speeds, the phase compensation angle of the coordinate change is determined under different fundamental frequency. A 18kW doubly salient electro-magnetic motor(DSEM) prototype is built with experimental results given to verify the analysis.
