Abstract:A 3W LED driving power supply that is built with the iW1696 is provided, in this paper. The LED driving power supply is a new low-cost digital control solution that maximizes the AC/DC flyback power supply efficiency. This intelligent digital approach achieves the combined benefits of high performance, low cost and high reliability in a single controller. An unique multiple PWM and PFM operational modes adaptively based on the power supply load changes is introduced. The multi-mode PWM/PFM control significantly improves the light-load efficiency and thus the overall average efficiency, and it does not bring compromise to other system performance.
