Abstract:An analytical method for predicting the airgap magnetic field distribution, armature winding flux density distribution and back EMF is presented, which consider the effect of slots by complex relative airgap permeance; an analytical model of PMSM’s cogging torque is also predicted using Maxwell stress method calculated along slots’ edge, and all the analytical models above consider the effects of partition-between-poles(PBP), The validity and the correctness of the analytical model are verified through FEA and experiments. On the basis of the analysis of analytical model, an PBP Halbach magnet, which providers better performance of the magnetic field distribution than the traditional Halbach magnet is presented, and then the superiority of the optimized PBP Halbach magnet is also verified further through FEA and experiments.
