The Scott Tracion Transformer With Secondary Midpoint Drawn-Out Applicable to AT Feeding Systems

Abstract:The electrical characteristic and impedance selection problem of the Scott transformer with secondary midpoint drawn-out that can be used in electric railway AT power supply system are analyzed. Based on the comparison of the performance of different transformers applicable to AT system, a proposal on the main transformer selection of high speed passenger dedicated lines is presented. A 50kVA experimental model of the Scott transformer has been manufactured to validate its feasibility to AT system and related mathematic model. The Scott transformer with secondary midpoint drawn-out has the merits of restraining the negative phase sequence current, omitting the AT inside substation, simplifying the connection and decreasing the space occupation of substation and is valuable for practical applications.
